Infrared welding machines for non-contact heating

Fast, non-contact heating of the parts via radiant energy with short-wave infrared radiators:

  • Can be used on horizontal 2-stage hot plate welding machines or on vibration welding machines for preheating or pure IR welding.
  • Complex technical plastics with higher temperature resistance can be joined in a 2-stage process without the melt that is generated sticking to the hot plate.
  • Compensation for unevenness in parts, significantly reduced size of weld bead compared to conventional pure contact welding.
  • Unlike in vibration welding, no undesirable particles that can foul the components like those generated during the friction phase.
  • Attractive energy balance thanks to energy-optimised radiator sources, which are only activated during the heating process.
  • Servomotor-driven presses – quick, precise motions.
  • Further savings potential by means of infrared heating via standardised surface radiator and easy-to-change masks that are adapted to the weld zone geometry, and which allow processing of multiple components with a single surface radiator.

Application examples:

  • Automotive industry: “Under-the-bonnet” (PA parts such as air intake manifolds, ventilation system components, reservoirs), automobile interiors (instrument panels).
  • Non-automotive industry: Large component combinations, e.g. chassis of hot water high-pressure cleaners.
  • General components that present problems for contact heating.
